- The Flex 32SS steps up from the 18SS to a 1010mm-wide opening on EcoSmart's mid-tier XL500 burner, nearly doubling both the fuel tank and the heat output. It's the second-narrowest of the twelve Flex Single Sided sizes at Fireside, built for a room that wants a genuine flame picture without committing to a full feature wall.

Design & Build:
- Same zinc-sealed mild steel surround and toughened glass as the rest of the Flex range, built around a Grade 304 stainless XL500 burner delivering 11,430 BTU/h (12 MJ/h) from a 5-litre tank. The burner is available in Stainless Steel as standard, or a Black ceramic-coated finish for a flat, monochrome look, at a fixed premium.

What it does well:
- Runs 10 to 13 hours per fill on nearly double the 18SS's fuel capacity, and is rated for an 80m³ room, twice the 18SS's coverage. Indoor or Outdoor rated, so it suits a covered terrace as readily as a living room.

Trade-off worth knowing:
- At 1010mm it's still a narrow-to-mid opening; if the wall can take a wider unit, the 42SS or 50SS give considerably more presence. At 45.7kg it also needs a two-person lift into place, unlike the lighter 18SS.
Flex 32SS questions, answered
Does the Flex 32SS need a chimney or flue?
No. It runs on bioethanol, which burns clean with no smoke, embers or soot, so there is nothing to vent. It frames into a wall or opening with zero clearance to combustibles - no masonry chimney, gas line or flue required.
Can the Flex 32SS be used both indoors and outdoors?
Yes, it is rated for both. Indoors it needs a room of at least 80m³.
How is the Flex 32SS installed?
It frames directly into a stud wall (wood or metal) or an existing hearth opening, with zero clearance to combustibles required around the frame. There is no gas line, flue or masonry work: once the opening is framed to size, the unit drops in and connects to nothing else. At 45.7kg it is a two to four-person lift into place depending on the model; check the exact figure on this page before planning your install.
What does the Flex 32SS actually cost to run for an evening?
A full 5 litre fill burns for 10-13 hours. We sell e-NRG bioethanol at £65 for a 20 litre carton, so a full fill is about £16 and a three-hour evening works out at roughly £4 to £5. There is no standing cost, since it only uses fuel while it is alight.
