The Logg Logger is built in Corten, which is weathering steel: it forms a stable rust-coloured oxide layer that protects the metal beneath and holds its russet colour for 20 to 30 years, with no painting and no seasonal storage, so the Logg Logger asks nothing of you between winters where painted mild steel would need recoating. The one thing to plan for is the Logg Logger's first season: Corten bleeds orange run-off onto pale paving while it patinates, and on porous stone that can leave a permanent mark, so settle where it stands before the first winter. We advise securing the wood store to a wall to ensure stability.
Products are delivered without rust. The corten steel rusting process takes about 4–5 months, depending on weather conditions. You can speed up this process by using our rust accelerator.
The rust can be fixed by applying Owatrol. This is a penetrating rust inhibitor that forms a protective anti-rust coating. Owatrol protects the product and stops the rust from flaking off.
We do not recommend using corten steel within 2 km of a coastline.
The weathering process may cause rust run-off.
The guarantee is void if the product is drilled, sanded or scoured in a manner other than prescribed.
