At the XL scale, a standard-size glass set would be undersized and ineffective , this set is dimensioned specifically for the larger unit.

Function is the same as the standard round glass set: the tempered panels create a wind barrier that stabilises the flame and maintains heat output on evenings with light to moderate breeze, while keeping the fire fully visible through the glass. On a calm evening the glass adds little; on a typical UK spring or autumn evening, the difference in flame quality is significant.
