Overview:
- The Firebox 1100CV is the first of EcoSmart's Curved Fireplaces to join the range, distinguished from the flat-fronted Heritage and Frame series by a genuinely curved glass viewing pane that wraps the flame rather than framing it head-on.
Design & Build:
- Mild steel construction with a curved toughened glass front, built around a Grade 304 stainless XL9 burner delivering 15,000 BTU/h (15.83 MJ/h) from a 9-litre tank, the same burner used in the largest Heritage and second-widest Frame models.
What it does well:
- The curved glass gives a wraparound view of the flame from a wider range of seating angles than a flat-fronted insert manages, useful in a room where seating isn't lined up directly opposite the fireplace. It runs 8 to 13 hours per fill and is rated for a 110m³ room.
Trade-off worth knowing:
- At 1340mm wide and 61.5kg, it needs a properly built curved or angled surround to make the most of the shape; dropping it into a flat existing opening won't showcase what makes it different from the flat-fronted Frame and Heritage models. The curved glass is also a more specialised part to source as a replacement than a flat pane.
Certification:
- This model is certified to EN 16647, the UK and EU safety standard for indoor bioethanol fireplaces.
