A fire bowl earns its place on the patio when it does two things well: looks considered and moves easily when you need it to. The Moodz Feet and Handle in Corten steel does both, and earns its second jobs as a sculptural piece that ages beautifully across a British year.
Built by Moodz in the Netherlands from 3mm Corten weathering steel, this version of the Classic bowl adds integrated handles and three sturdy feet. The handles let you reposition the bowl on the patio for an evening, then put it back. The feet lift it clear of decking and grass so heat does not damage the surface below. The 3mm wall thickness gives the bowl serious mass and a long expected life.
Three sizes cover most British gardens. 60cm at £89.50 is the courtyard size. 80cm at £139 is the everyday pick. 100cm at £239 anchors a larger patio or terrace. The Corten arrives in raw silver-grey steel and weathers into a deep auburn patina over the first six to twelve months, then stabilises. Can I use the Moodz Feet & Handle in a UK smoke control area?
Yes. It's a standalone outdoor appliance, and the Clean Air Act's smoke control rules only tighten for fires flued into a building - a summerhouse chimney, for example. Burn Ready to Burn certified, or otherwise well-seasoned and properly dried, logs and it's legal to use on any UK postcode, smoke control area or not. Excessive smoke from any fire can still count as a statutory nuisance if it genuinely bothers neighbours, so dry wood matters either way.
Do the legs on the Feet & Handle mean I don't need a mat underneath it?
No, we'd still recommend one. The three legs lift the bowl clear of decking and grass, which helps protect the surface, but a fire bowl runs hot enough that a heat-resistant mat, paving slab or one of Moodz's own base frames is still worth using.
How is the Moodz Feet & Handle delivered, and will I need help placing it?
Free UK mainland delivery, next working day if you order before 12pm on a weekday. Weight depends on size: from 10 kg on the 60cm (one person can carry it into place without help.) up to 24 kg on the 100cm (plan on two people for the last stretch from the pallet to its final spot.) - the built-in handles make the carry itself easier even where two people are needed.
Will the Corten steel need any looking after?
Not really. It arrives raw silver-grey and weathers into a deep auburn patina over roughly the first 6 to 12 months outdoors, then stabilises and doesn't rust through, so there's nothing to paint or seal.
Does rust from the Corten stain the paving underneath?
It can, especially in the first few months of weathering when rain carries a little rust runoff off the surface. The legs help by lifting the bowl clear of the surface, but a plinth, gravel bed or heat mat underneath further reduces the risk on pale paving.
What is the difference between the Moodz Feet & Handle (Corten) and Feet & Handle (Stainless)?
Same base design (3 legs, 2 handles) and overlapping size range. Corten weathers into a rust patina over its first year outdoors; Stainless Steel keeps a silver finish permanently with no patina process, and costs more size-for-size.
What is the difference between the Moodz Feet & Handle (Corten) and Classic (Corten)?
Same Corten finish. This version stands on three legs with two carry handles, making it easier to reposition, and tops out at 100cm; the Classic has a single-foot base, no handles, and goes up to 150cm.
Who the Moodz Feet & Handle (Corten) is for
It is a good fit if:
- You want to move the bowl around the garden or put it away between uses - the built-in handles are the whole point.
- You want the classic rust-patina look on a base design that lifts it further off decking or grass.
Consider something else if:
- You want a size above 100cm: the Classic goes up to 150cm.
- You'd rather avoid the weathering process: the Stainless Steel version keeps a permanent silver finish.
