If you want the clean, contemporary look of a brushed steel fire bowl without the patina that comes with Corten, the Moodz Classic in stainless is the answer. A Dutch-designed bowl in 3mm stainless steel that holds its sheen through every British season and earns its place at the centre of the patio.
Built by Moodz, the Dutch family-run maker, the Classic is a single-skin stainless bowl with the same form as their Corten Classic but in a finish that resists corrosion rather than developing one. The 3mm wall thickness gives serious thermal mass and a long expected life. No coating to crack, no patina to worry about. Just brushed steel, season after season.
Four diameters cover any space. 60cm at £169 is the entry size for a courtyard or small patio. 80cm at £242 is the everyday choice. 100cm at £399 anchors a serious garden setting, and 120cm at £539 is a statement piece for an open lawn or larger terrace. Classic (Stainless) questions, answered
Can I use the Moodz Classic in a UK smoke control area?
Yes. It's a standalone outdoor appliance, and the Clean Air Act's smoke control rules only tighten for fires flued into a building - a summerhouse chimney, for example. Burn Ready to Burn certified, or otherwise well-seasoned and properly dried, logs and it's legal to use on any UK postcode, smoke control area or not. Excessive smoke from any fire can still count as a statutory nuisance if it genuinely bothers neighbours, so dry wood matters either way.
Do I need anything underneath the Moodz Classic?
Yes. Its single-foot base sits close to the ground, and a fire bowl runs hot underneath regardless - use a heat-resistant mat, paving slab or one of Moodz's own base frames if you're placing it on decking, grass or anything else you'd rather not scorch.
How is the Moodz Classic delivered, and will I need help placing it?
Free UK mainland delivery, next working day if you order before 12pm on a weekday. Weight depends on size: from 10.6 kg on the 60cm (one person can carry it into place without help.) up to 39.4 kg on the 120cm (plan on two people for the last stretch from the pallet to its final spot.)
Does Stainless Steel need any looking after?
Very little. It keeps its silver finish without developing a patina, and resists staining and corrosion well outdoors. An occasional wipe-down keeps water spots and light surface marks from building up, much like any stainless steel garden or kitchen fixture.
Why doesn't the Classic Stainless come in the 150cm size?
It isn't offered - the Corten Classic goes up to 150cm, but the Stainless Classic and both Feet & Handle versions top out at 120cm and 100cm respectively. If you want the largest size, the 150cm is only available in Corten.
What is the difference between the Moodz Classic (Stainless) and Classic (Corten)?
Same bowl and base design, mostly overlapping size range (this one tops out at 120cm, Corten goes to 150cm). Stainless Steel keeps a permanent silver finish with no patina process and costs more size-for-size; Corten weathers into a rust patina over its first year outdoors.
What is the difference between the Moodz Classic (Stainless) and Feet & Handle (Stainless)?
Same Stainless Steel finish and overlapping size range (60-100cm). This Classic has a single-foot base and no handles; the Feet & Handle version stands on three legs with two carry handles, making it easier to reposition.
Who the Moodz Classic (Stainless) is for
It is a good fit if:
- You want a modern silver finish that doesn't change colour over time, with no weathering process and no risk of rust runoff staining pale paving.
- You're setting it in one spot rather than moving it around regularly.
Consider something else if:
- You want the largest size we sell: 150cm is Corten only - see the Classic (Corten).
- You want to reposition it easily: the Feet & Handle version adds legs and carry handles.
- Budget is tight: Stainless costs more than Corten size-for-size.
