- The Firebox 1100CV is the first of EcoSmart's Curved Fireplaces to join the range, distinguished from the flat-fronted Heritage and Frame series by a genuinely curved glass viewing pane that wraps the flame rather than framing it head-on.

Design & Build:
- Mild steel construction with a curved toughened glass front, built around a Grade 304 stainless XL900 burner delivering 15,000 BTU/h (15.83 MJ/h) from a 9-litre tank, the same burner used in the largest Heritage and second-widest Frame models.

What it does well:
- The curved glass gives a wraparound view of the flame from a wider range of seating angles than a flat-fronted insert manages, useful in a room where seating isn't lined up directly opposite the fireplace. It runs 8 to 13 hours per fill and is rated for a 110m³ room.

Trade-off worth knowing:
- At 1340mm wide and 61.5kg, it needs a properly built curved or angled surround to make the most of the shape; dropping it into a flat existing opening won't showcase what makes it different from the flat-fronted Frame and Heritage models. The curved glass is also a more specialised part to source as a replacement than a flat pane.

Firebox 1100CV questions, answered
Does the Firebox 1100CV need a chimney or flue?
No. It runs on bioethanol, which burns clean with no smoke, embers or soot, so there is nothing to vent. It frames into a wall or opening with zero clearance to combustibles - no masonry chimney, gas line or flue required.
Can the Firebox 1100CV be used both indoors and outdoors?
Yes, it is rated for both. Indoors it needs a room of at least 110m³.
How is the Firebox 1100CV installed?
It frames directly into a stud wall (wood or metal) or an existing hearth opening, with zero clearance to combustibles required around the frame. There is no gas line, flue or masonry work: once the opening is framed to size, the unit drops in and connects to nothing else. At 61.5kg it is a two to four-person lift into place depending on the model; check the exact figure on this page before planning your install.
What does the Firebox 1100CV actually cost to run for an evening?
A full 9 litre fill burns for 8-13 hours. We sell e-NRG bioethanol at £65 for a 20 litre carton, so a full fill is about £29 and a three-hour evening works out at roughly £7 to £11. There is no standing cost, since it only uses fuel while it is alight.
Should I choose the Firebox 1100CV or the 1400CV?
The 1100CV is the more compact of the two Curved Fireplaces, at 134cm wide on the XL900 burner. The 1400CV steps up to 164cm and the larger XL1200 burner for a bigger feature wall. Both need a genuinely curved or angled surround to make the most of the shape.
Which fuel does the Firebox 1100CV burn, and do you sell it?
It runs on e-NRG bioethanol, which we stock in 20 litre cartons. Bioethanol produces no smoke, embers or ash, so there is nothing to clean out after use.
Are there any accessories that fit the Firebox 1100CV?
Yes. Its XL900 burner takes the XL Baffles and Black Glass Charcoal, sold separately.
