- The Firebox 1400CV is the larger of EcoSmart's two Curved Fireplaces, a 1640mm wraparound glass insert built for a feature wall that needs the biggest curved flame view in the range, not just the widest opening.

Design & Build:
- Mild steel construction with a curved toughened glass front and a sliding glass screen that acts as both a safety barrier and a shield against wind. It shares its Grade 304 stainless XL1200 burner with the Frame 1500SS, delivering 15,290 BTU/h (16.13 MJ/h) from a 10-litre tank, the largest burner and tank in the Curved range.

What it does well:
- Runs 9 to 14 hours per fill, the longest burn time of either Curved model, and is rated for a 115m³ room, ahead of the 1100CV's 110m³. At 1640mm wide, it's also the wider of the two, suited to a more substantial feature wall.

Trade-off worth knowing:
- At 71.7kg and 1640mm wide it's a heavier, wider commitment than the 1100CV, and needs a genuinely curved or angled surround to make sense of the shape. If your wall space is tighter, the 1100CV gives most of the same curved-glass effect in a smaller footprint.

Firebox 1400CV questions, answered
Does the Firebox 1400CV need a chimney or flue?
No. It runs on bioethanol, which burns clean with no smoke, embers or soot, so there is nothing to vent. It frames into a wall or opening with zero clearance to combustibles - no masonry chimney, gas line or flue required.
Can the Firebox 1400CV be used both indoors and outdoors?
Yes, it is rated for both. Indoors it needs a room of at least 115m³.
How is the Firebox 1400CV installed?
It frames directly into a stud wall (wood or metal) or an existing hearth opening, with zero clearance to combustibles required around the frame. There is no gas line, flue or masonry work: once the opening is framed to size, the unit drops in and connects to nothing else. At 71.7kg it is a two to four-person lift into place depending on the model; check the exact figure on this page before planning your install.
What does the Firebox 1400CV actually cost to run for an evening?
A full 10 litre fill burns for 9-14 hours. We sell e-NRG bioethanol at £65 for a 20 litre carton, so a full fill is about £33 and a three-hour evening works out at roughly £7 to £11. There is no standing cost, since it only uses fuel while it is alight.
Should I choose the Firebox 1400CV or the 1100CV?
The 1400CV is wider (164cm against 134cm), runs the larger XL1200 burner and burns for longer per fill (9-14 hours against 8-13). The 1100CV suits a tighter wall; the 1400CV suits a more substantial feature wall that can take the extra width and weight.
Which fuel does the Firebox 1400CV burn, and do you sell it?
It runs on e-NRG bioethanol, which we stock in 20 litre cartons. Bioethanol produces no smoke, embers or ash, so there is nothing to clean out after use.
Are there any accessories that fit the Firebox 1400CV?
Yes. Its XL1200 burner takes the XL Baffles and Black Glass Charcoal, sold separately.
