- The larger sibling of our Pod 30, this fire bowl takes its silhouette from traditional pottery forms: a tall, tapered vessel rather than a squat bowl, standing 50.4cm off the ground.

Design & Build:
- The bowl comes in Natural, Graphite or Bone concrete composite, finished to resist scratches, stains and mould through a full UK outdoor season.

Fuel:
- Three fuel options: Bioethanol for indoor or outdoor use, or Liquid Propane and Natural Gas for outdoor use only. Bioethanol delivers 6kW (20,433 BTU/h) with a 7 to 9 hour burn from 8 litres. Gas runs hotter, up to 65,000 BTU/h: Liquid Propane lasts 8 to 20 hours per tank, Natural Gas burns for as long as you leave it on.

What it does well:
- Its 50.4cm height puts the flame closer to eye level than a low bowl, so it reads as a sculptural centrepiece to be looked at from across the garden, not just gathered round.

Trade-off worth knowing:
- At 100cm square and 50.4cm tall, it takes up more visual and physical space than the Pod 30; check it suits the proportions of your patio before choosing it over the smaller model.

Certification:
- This model is certified to EN 16647, the UK and EU safety standard for indoor bioethanol fireplaces.
Natural Gas requires professional installation: a certified plumber must fit a permanent gas connection before use. This installation is not included in the price and is not arranged by us; it is the customer's responsibility. Liquid Propane needs no installation and runs from an external tank.
Pod 40 questions, answered
Can the Pod 40 be used indoors?
Yes, on bioethanol. It needs a room of at least 116m³ (4,097 ft³). The Liquid Propane and Natural Gas versions are for outdoor use only.
How is the Pod 40 delivered, and will I need help getting it into place?
Delivery is free to UK mainland, and it comes on a pallet to the easiest access point on your property, usually the driveway or the front of the house. It is not brought inside, unpacked or assembled. Plan on two people to move it the last stretch. It weighs 50.3kg and is 100cm x 100cm across. If access is tight, message us before ordering and we will talk it through.
What does the Pod 40 actually cost to run for an evening?
On bioethanol: a full 8 litre fill burns for 7-9 hours. We sell e-NRG bioethanol at £65 for a 20 litre carton, so a full fill is about £26 and a three-hour evening works out at roughly £9 to £11. There is no standing cost, since it only uses fuel while it is alight. Liquid Propane and Natural Gas running costs depend on your tank/meter supplier, so we cannot quote a fixed figure for those.
Does the Pod 40 need professional installation?
Only the Natural Gas version. That needs a certified plumber to fit a permanent gas connection before use; the installation is not included in the price and is not arranged by us. Bioethanol and Liquid Propane need no installation, and Liquid Propane runs from an external tank you can disconnect and move.
What is the difference between the Pod 40 and the Pod 30?
They share the same AB8 burner and the same Natural, Graphite, Bone finish choice. The Pod 40 is bigger (100cm x 100cm, 50.4cm tall, 50.3kg) and costs more than the Pod 30 (76.2cm x 76.2cm, 35.1cm tall, 39.3kg).
Which fuel does the Pod 40 burn, and do you sell it?
The bioethanol version runs on e-NRG bioethanol, which we stock in 20 litre cartons. Bioethanol produces no smoke, embers or ash, so there is no flue and nothing to clear out afterwards.
Can I leave the Pod 40 outside all year?
Yes. The concrete composite is made to handle a full UK outdoor season. For extra protection we sell a fitted cover, a sensible way to keep rain and debris off it over winter.
Who the Pod 40 is for
It is a good fit if:
- You want a sculptural centrepiece rather than a table: at 50.4cm it stands taller than any of the four square/round tables in this group, so the flame sits closer to eye level.
- You want the lightest of the five, at 50.3kg.
Consider something else if:
- You want a flat table surface to set drinks on: choose the Ark 40, Base 40, Mojito 40 or Vertigo 40 instead, all of which have a usable tabletop rim.
- You want a more compact, lower-priced version instead: the Pod 30 is the same round bowl shape at 76.2cm x 76.2cm, for a smaller patio.
- Your room is smaller than 116m³ (4,097 ft³) and you want to burn it indoors. Outdoors there is no room-size requirement at all.
