BonBiza Island questions, answered
Does the BonBiza Island work as a normal wood fire, or is it cooking-only?
Both. It's a wood-fired firepit built into a rectangular table: light logs in the fire well and it's an open fire, or slide the plancha over to cook. The Large has an 80 cm grill/plancha; the Extra Large has a 100 cm one.
Can I use the BonBiza Island in a UK smoke control area?
Yes. It's a standalone outdoor appliance, and the Clean Air Act's smoke control rules only tighten for fires flued into a building - a summerhouse chimney, for example. Burn Ready to Burn certified, or otherwise well-seasoned and properly dried, logs and it's legal to use on any UK postcode, smoke control area or not. Excessive smoke from any fire can still count as a statutory nuisance if it genuinely bothers neighbours, so dry wood matters either way.
How is the BonBiza Island delivered, and will I need help placing it?

At L 80 × W 162 × H 111 cm to L 100 × W 182 × H 111 cm it's the largest piece we sell in either brand, so this isn't a solo lift - if you're unsure about access to your garden, contact us before ordering and we'll talk it through.
Will the Corten steel finish on the BonBiza Island need any looking after?
Not really. It arrives raw silver-grey and starts to rust within a few weeks outdoors; the patina matures over roughly 6 to 12 months into a stable, deep rust-brown that doesn't rust through, so there's nothing to paint or seal.
What is included in the box with the BonBiza Island?
Plancha and Inner Plancha Grill Grid. Lid, Grill Stand, Pizza Oven and Skewers Ring are available separately if you want them.
Do you sell firewood to go with the BonBiza Island?
No, we don't sell firewood or logs. Any well-seasoned, properly dried hardwood, ideally Ready to Burn certified, will burn cleaner and hotter than damp or resinous wood in any wood-burning appliance.
How do I clean the plancha on the BonBiza Island?
Push food residue into the fire below with a spatula while it's still warm, then wipe the surface clean. There's no need to remove or scrub it between uses.
What is the difference between the BonBiza Island and the Biza?
The Island is a rectangular outdoor-kitchen table (L 80 × W 162 × H 111 cm on the Large) rather than a round drum (80 × 80cm), with a larger grill diameter and a considerably higher price. It's built as a furniture-format centrepiece; the Biza and Biza Open are more compact, portable firepits.
What is the difference between the Large and Extra Large BonBiza Island?
The Large has an 80 cm grill and a L 80 × W 162 × H 111 cm footprint; the Extra Large steps up to a 100 cm grill and a L 100 × W 182 × H 111 cm footprint, for £100 more.
Does the BonBiza Island come assembled, or is there work to do when it arrives?
Some final assembly. It arrives in two main sections - the base and the fire bowl with its plancha - which bolt together using the instructions in the box. No welding and no professional fitting.
Who the BonBiza Island is for
It is a good fit if:
- You want a genuine outdoor-kitchen centrepiece rather than a firepit you happen to cook on: it's shaped and sized like a table, not a drum.
- You regularly cook for a group: the Extra Large's 100 cm grill is the largest cooking surface across everything we sell from either brand.
Consider something else if:
- You want something more compact and considerably less expensive: the Biza and Biza Open share the same wood-fired-plus-plancha idea in a much smaller footprint, from £729.95.
- You want a choice of Black Steel as well as Corten: the Island is Corten only.
How this compares to our other wood-fired cooking firepits
We sell three BonFeu wood-fired firepit-and-plancha combinations. Biza and Biza Open share the same round drum body and the same cooking spec down to the millimetre: an 48cm plancha, 6mm thick, over a 380cm² cooking surface - the only difference is whether the base includes log storage. The BonBiza Island is a different piece of furniture entirely: a rectangular outdoor-kitchen table rather than a round drum, in two sizes.
