- The Heritage 26SS is the smallest fireplace in EcoSmart's Heritage Firebox Series, a see-through insert built to slot into a traditional hearth opening without looking like a retrofit. At 860mm wide it suits a single-room chimney breast where the larger 42SS and 56SS would overwhelm the wall.

Design & Build:
- The surround is zinc-sealed mild steel finished in a hi-temp black powder coat, framing a single pane of toughened glass around the flame. A Grade 304 stainless steel BK5 burner sits behind the glass, delivering 13,000 BTU/h (13.72 MJ/h) from a 5-litre tank.

What it does well:
- Runs 7 to 11 hours on one fill, long enough for an evening without a mid-film refuel, and needs no flue, gas line or chimney to install. It's rated for a 70m³ room, roughly a 25-30m² lounge with a standard ceiling height.

Trade-off worth knowing:
- At 44.9kg it's a two-person lift into the opening, and 860mm won't fill a wide fireplace surround built for a larger unit. If your existing hearth opening is over a metre wide, the 42SS fills it properly instead of leaving a visible gap either side.

Does the Heritage 26SS need a chimney or flue?
No. It runs on bioethanol, which burns clean with no smoke, embers or soot, so there is nothing to vent. It frames into a wall or opening with zero clearance to combustibles - no masonry chimney, gas line or flue required.
Can the Heritage 26SS be used both indoors and outdoors?
Yes, it is rated for both. Indoors it needs a room of at least 70m³ (approx. 25-30m² room).
How is the Heritage 26SS installed?
It frames directly into a stud wall (wood or metal) or an existing hearth opening, with zero clearance to combustibles required around the frame. There is no gas line, flue or masonry work: once the opening is framed to size, the unit drops in and connects to nothing else. At 44.9kg it is a two to four-person lift into place depending on the model; check the exact figure on this page before planning your install.
What does the Heritage 26SS actually cost to run for an evening?
A full 5 litre fill burns for 7-11 hours. We sell e-NRG bioethanol at £65 for a 20 litre carton, so a full fill is about £16 and a three-hour evening works out at roughly £4 to £7. There is no standing cost, since it only uses fuel while it is alight.
