Quick verdict

The BonPyra is the only pyramid-shaped body across BonFeu's six wood-burning garden fireplaces, standing on three legs with a built-in ash tray. It measures 50 x 50 x 166cm, weighs 16.1kg, and costs £279.50 -- more than every other model except BonTon's Large and X-Large sizes. It is an open fire rather than a cooking fireplace: no wok ring or grill is included.

BonPyra questions, answered

Does the BonPyra need a chimney or professional installation?

No. It's a self-contained wood-burning fireplace with its own built-in 14 cm stove pipe, so it vents itself with nothing connected to your house. It stands freestanding on three legs, and there's no flue installation of any kind.

Can I use the BonPyra in a UK smoke control area?

Yes. It's a standalone outdoor appliance, and the Clean Air Act's smoke control rules only tighten for fires flued into a building - a summerhouse chimney, for example. Burn Ready to Burn certified, or otherwise well-seasoned and properly dried, logs and it's legal to use on any UK postcode, smoke control area or not. Excessive smoke from any fire can still count as a statutory nuisance if it genuinely bothers neighbours, so dry wood matters either way.

How is the BonPyra delivered, and will I need help placing it?

Free UK mainland delivery, next working day if you order before 12pm on a weekday. It arrives on a pallet at 16.1kg, 50 × 50cm across. One person can carry it into place without help.

Will the Steel finish on the BonPyra need any looking after?

It carries a heat-resistant coating built for outdoor use. It will weather and develop its own rustic character over time, the same way our Corten Steel pieces do, just without the orange rust colour.

What is the difference between the BonPyra and the BonTon?

Both are open, cooking-free wood fireplaces built around an ash tray and log grid rather than a wok ring. The BonPyra is the only pyramid-shaped body in the range and comes in one size; the BonTon is round and comes in three sizes, the largest of which is both taller and heavier.

Outdoor fireplace or fire pit: which is better for a UK garden?

An outdoor fireplace and a fire pit are not interchangeable. The BonPyra is the fireplace side of that choice: its built-in stove pipe draws smoke up and away and throws heat forward from one opening, making it a focal point against a wall or at the end of a terrace. A fire pit sits low and open, radiating heat in every direction instead. Choose a fireplace when the seating faces one way and smoke drifting across the table is what you want to avoid.

Who the BonPyra is for

It is a good fit if:

You want a distinctive, statement shape: it's the only pyramid-bodied model across the six BonFeu fireplaces we sell.
You want an integrated ash tray at the back for easier cleanup, rather than shovelling ash out through the front opening.

Consider something else if:

You want to cook on it: unlike the BonTino, BonCarré and BonBono, it doesn't come with a wok ring or grill - it's built as an open fire, not a cooking fireplace.
Budget is tight: at £279.50 it costs more than every other model except BonTon's Large and X-Large sizes.

How this compares to our other garden fireplaces

We sell six BonFeu wood-burning garden fireplaces, all built the same way: a steel body with its own integrated stove pipe, freestanding on its own legs, no installation into your house. Footprint, height, weight and price all vary by model, and the BonPyra sits at its own point in that range.

Model	Shape	Pick it for	Height	Price	Weight	Finish
BonTino	Round	Comes with a wok ring, ready to cook straight out of the box	164cm	£219.95	15.3kg	Black Steel or Corten Steel
BonCarré	Square	Same footprint and height as the BonTino, in a square silhouette, at a near-identical price	164cm	£219.50	18.1kg	Black Steel or Corten Steel
BonBono	Round	A wider base on the same tall profile	165cm	£224.95	13.6kg	Black Steel or Corten Steel
BonPyra (this one)	Round, pyramid body	The only pyramid-shaped body, with a built-in ash tray	166cm	£279.50	16.1kg	Steel
BonGiro	Round, low legs	Shortest of the six, built around a two-position rotatable grill	132cm	£269.95	24.6kg	Steel
BonTon	Round	Largest and tallest, in three sizes up to 195cm	145-195cm	£274.95 to £515.50	16.8-45kg	Black Steel or Corten Steel
